HAPPY EARTH DAY 2019! (instapost)

It’s earth day and it's one of the most important days of the year where most of us are more aware of our planet, our climate and the problems this planet will face in terms of climate change if we don’t take any proper actions. I’m sure my friends will tell you all about what you can do to play a significant role in preventing climate change (check out my stories!) but I’d like to briefly tell you what researchers are doing to prevent climate change.

New research for more efficient carbon capture

Journal : Tuning Organic Carbon Dioxide Absorbents for Carbonation and Decarbonation : Dr's: Kim, Park &   Rajamanickam Funded by Ministry of Education. Science and Technology of the Korean Government Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) is a gas / waste product that is given off by motor engines and with it other harmful gases that affect us and affect pollution and air quality. In this new piece of research the trio of scientists have aimed to find a way to capture carbon and recycle it, from carbon dioxide and at the same time release the safe molecule oxygen (O 2 ). In their research the scientists have aimed to manipulate the unique chemistry of super bases for carbon capture technology. It is beneficial to be able to control the process of carbonation and decarbonation in an easily controllable manner. ·          Superbase = alkylcarbonyl salt ·          Reverse at elevated temperatur...

Man Creates The First Ever Leaf That Turns Light and Water Into Oxygen

Artificial leaf technology is constantly expanding. Coming from a silk lab in Tufts University, Julian Melchiorri is a scientist and artist who has introduced an artificial leaf that can undergo photosynthesis. This design was produced with the plan that it could light up the house and produce oxygen simultaneously.   He has made this invention by suspending chloroplasts (the organelles required for photosynthesis) in a body produced from silk protein. The leaf then is able to absorb carbon dioxide from the air and produce oxygen as the product, as long as there is enough water and light to feed it. Julian believes that his artificial leaf is not only light weight, but also extremely energy and light efficient.   The Photosynthesis Equation: 6CO 2  + 6H 2 O + (SUNLIGHT ENERGY) --> C 6 H 12 O 6  + 6O 2 This seems like a great idea but there is something missing from Julian’s design: Sugar. Plants produce oxygen and glu...
